Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 08, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use the PingIT: Host Monitor Pro application (the "Service") operated by Batan Ay ("we," "us," or "our").
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines how we handle your data, specifically regarding network diagnostics, location permissions, and our licensing programs.
1. Information Collection and Use
General Principle: For standard users (Free version users and Paid "Pro" subscribers via Google Play), we DO NOT collect, store, or upload personally identifiable information (PII) to our servers. Your data remains local.
A. Location Data (Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Scanning)
Our application requires Location Permissions (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
- Why: The Android operating system mandates this permission to access Wi-Fi SSID, BSSID, and to discover nearby Bluetooth LE devices. This is technically necessary for the "WiFi Analyzer" and "Bluetooth Hunter" features.
- Privacy: We DO NOT use this data to track your physical location, nor do we share it with any third parties. It is processed locally on your device solely for signal analysis.
B. Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Data
To provide features like "Spectrum Graph," "Channel Rating," and "Device Finder," the app scans for nearby wireless signals.
- Data Collected Locally: SSID, BSSID/MAC Address, Signal Strength (RSSI), and Device Name.
- Usage: Used to visualize network congestion and estimate distance. This data is never uploaded to any cloud server.
C. Network Data (Server Monitor & Diagnostics)
Features such as "Ping," "Trace Route," and "Server Monitor" require IP addresses or domain names.
- Storage: The servers you add are saved locally on your device using secure storage (Shared Preferences).
- Usage: Only used to perform the connectivity checks you requested locally.
D. Free License Program Data (Students & NGOs Only)
This section applies ONLY if you voluntarily apply for the Free License Program (Student/Academic/NGO verification).
To prevent abuse and manage license validity for this specific free program, we use Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore.
- Data Collected: Email Address, Device Model (e.g., "Samsung S21"), Unique Device ID, and License Expiration Date.
- Purpose:
- To verify eligibility (e.g., checking .edu domain).
- To enforce the "one device per license" limit.
- To synchronize your Pro status across re-installs on the same device.
- Security: This data is stored securely on Google Cloud servers. Passwords are handled directly by Firebase Authentication; we do not see or store your password.
- Note: If you purchase a standard Pro subscription via Google Play, this data is NOT collected.
2. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The Service offers a "Pro" subscription managed via Google Play Billing.
- Payment Processing: All financial transactions are handled directly by Google Play. We do not access, collect, or store your credit card details or billing information.
3. Advertising (AdMob)
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in the free version of the app.
- Google AdMob may use your device's Advertising ID to serve personalized ads based on your interests.
- You can opt-out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
4. Background Service
The "Server Monitor" feature utilizes an Android Foreground Service to check server status while the app is minimized. This service runs locally and sends local notifications.
5. Log Data
In case of an error in the app, we may collect anonymous data (through third-party products like Google Play Console) called Log Data. This may include device name, operating system version, and the time/date of the error.
6. Security
We value your trust in providing us your information. We use commercially reasonable means to protect it. Data stored for the Student/NGO program is protected by Firebase Security Rules to ensure only the account owner can access their own license data.
7. Children's Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions about our Privacy Policy, please contact us:
10. Data Deletion Request
We respect your right to be forgotten. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data stored in our system, you have two options:
- In-App Deletion: Go to Settings > Student/License Card > Delete Account. This will instantly remove your data from our servers.
- Manual Request: If you cannot access the app, please email us at support@lookip.org with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and include your registered email address. We will process your request within 7 days.
